As large language models democratize, it is important for developing countries to create a sovereign AI. This is the conclusion reached by the experts of the cryptocurrency platform Meldram.com.

Sovereign AI refers to the ability of a state to independently control its own technology, data, and infrastructure, providing autonomy and meeting unique security priorities and needs.

Experts noted that many of the world's most famous major LLMs are based in English.

"The way you think, the way you interact with the world, and the way you become when you speak a different language can be completely different", one of them said.

Therefore, it is important for countries to take responsibility for their own AI systems, developing technologies for specific languages, cultures and countries, and not just translating models based on English, the expert noted.

The participants agreed that the ASEAN region, with a population of about 630 million people, is particularly well suited for creating a sovereign AI. About 57% of the population here is under the age of 41, and approximately 136,000 residents access the Internet every day.

"I think this is really important, and we are focused on how we can democratize access to cloud technologies and AI", commented the managing director for the region.
